Mechatronics prototyping
Make things move and sense: you wire motors, sensors and a microcontroller into a working prototype.
Two hands-on days in which you take a simple object from a problem all the way to a working prototype.
You follow the same process we use on studio projects: define a problem, sketch solutions, model one in CAD, and make a physical prototype with the studio's laser cutter and hand tools.
It is for anyone who wants to understand how products are really developed, by doing it.
Before you come: No experience needed. Bring a laptop if you have one; we have a few to lend.
Day 1: You frame a problem, observe how people use everyday objects, sketch ideas, choose one and start modelling it in CAD.
Day 2: You prepare your design for fabrication, laser-cut and assemble it, test it, and get feedback on your prototype.
10:00 Start
13:00 Lunch (provided)
17:00 Finish
A laser-cut desk organiser or phone stand that you designed and made yourself, yours to take home.
Bring: A laptop (Windows or Mac) and a notebook.
We hold your seat for 48 hours and confirm it as soon as your payment arrives. If plans change, you get a full refund or a free move up to 7 days before the start, and a 50% refund from 3 to 7 days before. After that, you are welcome to send someone in your place.
Make things move and sense: you wire motors, sensors and a microcontroller into a working prototype.
One day in which you learn to design parts that are cheaper, faster and more reliable to make, using real examples from the studio.
